- What is a communicative tool?
Communicative tools are systems which enable easy communication between the teacher and the students or among students beyond the physical barrier (either by space, time, or both) of the classroom. Examples: E-mail, electronic bulletin boards, chat, teleconferencing, and electronic whiteboards.
Communicative tools can be divided into two sub-categories:
- Synchronous
- Asynchronous
- Synchronous Communicative Tool enables real-time communication. These can be used for instructional activities that require higher degrees of interaction or for solving urgent problems or issues.
- Asynchronous Communicative Tool is messaging systems in which the exchange of the information between people is not live but is somehow delayed. It is most appropriate for activities that require more time in thinking before responding or those that are not urgent in nature.
